During the last visit to Sydney by Indian premier Narendra Modi who particularly admired the astute leadership of Sameer Pandey thus putting him on a high pedestal and the one loved by large Indian diaspora.

All parties are now focusing on the Paramata, Sydney mayoral election due on the 25th of September. Presently, Mayor Sameer Pandey from the Labor party is serving the community. There are a total of 15 councilors, of which Labor has 7.
Able and capable duo of State MP Donna Davis and lord Mayor Sameer Pandey ensured the end of 2 terms of Liberal rule and stamped the presence of Labor and, in the bargain strengthen roots of Labor in hitherto Liberal stronghold. The Liberal party, too, has its sufficient vote share in Paramatta and the surrounding areas. The Liberals are also eying Mayoral posts in Paramata and are expected to pull all punches and approach with a new strategy.
However, the labor is far stronger than the Liberals in Paramatta for various reasons. Australian PM Anthony Albanese dedicated and renamed a part of Paramata as Little India to the delight of visiting Indian PM and large Indian origin populace. With the strong backing of Sameer Pandey by the Indian origin population in the area, labor is perceived to be far ahead of Liberal in popularity and perception.
There are unfortunate reports of some political dissonance between the two popular leaders, i.e., Dona Davis and Sameer Pandey, who can put a spike in the growth and continuity of Labor in both state as well as mayoral elections thus resulting in the defeat of Labor. As per reliable sources, if the Donna Davis do not support Sitting lord Mayor Sameer Pandey come out in the open, Labor can encounter plenty of problems. Taking into account the popularity of Sameer Pandey amongst the masses, some councilors are rooting for yet another mayoral term for him.
Only the time will tell as to what would be the next course of action for Labor to put its house in order and fight unitedly.
